Hit UPPERWOODS yesterday.
me and 2 of my buddies.
7 till 11am.
lots of guys .good ice 9".
got int the RAINBOWS Jigging....
silver and blue forage minnow ,tipped with a waxie...
I landed 5,,loss 2 at the top of the hole and missed a few.
my buddies got a few also.
No action on tipups or JawJackers...
there was dozen of tipups out and I only seen 1 go off in 4 hrs,
and it waswnt ours..lol.
was a great day to spend on the ice. :)
seen lots of deer on the way to the lake.at least 20.all looked very healty. I do well on the river for Cats and Pike with their heads..
as far as eating them....YUKKKK!!!!!
I keep the Heads and my neighbor eats the rest.
I call them SNOT ROCKETS ;)

I had trout and eggs for breakfast today. Those stockers just don't taste the same as a native brookie. rather have a nice perch or a couple bluegills ;)

I like catching them as well but rarely eat stocked trout. Usually I like them like this:

yeah, I know... it's an old one.
I just had some trout the other day, not smoked. Cooked them up for breakfast, one of my favorites. Fish and eggs with buttered toast. I'll stick to perch. Brother, if you gotta smoke a fish just to make it palatable, fish for something else.

No I haven't. I'm planning on building a smoker in my back yard this summer but it's a safe bet I won't be smokin any trout. ;D

I can catch them just have no interest to because I don't like to eat them so I don't bother fishing for them. Thanks for the offer though.

I like catching them sometimes. It's great to watch them rocket 10 ft up to grab a dropping jig! But I like it better when they get off at the hole so I don't have to mess with them, lol!

Yeah I've caught them but the only time I fished for them was when I went with Chez, with my Dad when I was a little kid, or I take my Daughters for the Mentor day. Other than that I don't fish for them, I'd rather catch something I'd eat. Even one these occasions I only go once or maybe twice a year.

I definitely know what they look like, I see a mark on my flasher, then they bite my jig, swim right up to the hole, and jump on the ice. You should see it, it's like I have a super strong magnet over the hole and the fish are metal. ;D

LOL! I actually had that happen this season................ ................had one of them "snot-rockets"(as Chez calls them) swim up and jump right outa the hole! :o And then on Monday had one hit my jigging rod while it was un-attended in the rod holder! Happened to look over and see the rod tip bent over but not moving. Thought at first the line was caught on the side of the hole until I lifted the rod and there was a fish ON! A 15" rainbow musta hit my lure and just sat there with it in it's mouth. But when I started reeling, it fought like hell! ;D

I was kidding about Don bear bait Jacobs being cousins, they're NOT. I remember the show when Old Bear Bait said he was sitting in a stand trying to get a bear on film but wasn't hunting because he didn't have a gun. Yeah right, who would sit on a stand during bear season and not be hunting whether or not they were trying to film one.
