fished this afternoon for 4 1/2 hrs with my 2boys....the whole lake is froze now...I didn't check ice thickness on main lake just remember it was open water Friday afternoon!! at the dam shore ice is much better and ice was 4-7" good ice under 2-3" snow ...not bad walking... u know its gonna be a good day when the first line to bottom with no bait to set bobber depth gets nailed by a 8" gill!!! my kids and I hammed the gills were 16 short of 3 man limit and throw lots more dinks back also we got 11 keeper crappies
you out in the honey hole already I'll be out next Saturday work has me tied up rite now....I don't need any coordinate I know where you fish ...goood job out there looking forward to seeing you out there...

the minnows were biting well for my daughter and I this afternoon. Got a nice big white one with black spots at the end that went 15"

My estimation was incorrect with the crappie I measured with the mark on my pole.  It ended up measuring at 13 3/4" when I just put them all to the knife, still a nice slab!

a spud will do if you have one.  Ice was 5-6" where I was and the auger only needed 5-6 turns to get through.

was an insane bite yesterday in the rain at the dam :woot:  didn't seem to matter what I put down the hole and they inhaled it and then the snow started and the craziness slowed right off...ended with limit a gills n 17 crappie n 3 perch   their was couple inch's of slop on top ice... next to guardrail it held up very well when I was leaving at 3:30pm....will be at it again today with my kids  ;D ;D

Great report guys! I have never fished Otisco. Is there pretty decent public access? I might try to hit it once before the ice goes out. Thanks

Fished today on dam side ice was about 5 inches with lots of water on top.  Very sloppy going out from guard rail.  Was having a good day fishing until I steped into someone's 10 inch hole.  Be careful out there I did not see this hole it was covered with frozen snow.  I when in up to my knee.  Very scary.  Lucky not to break a leg.

Is there a bait shop near there? I moved to Syracuse this year and have fished it once with Maki's but wanted to pick up some Spikes as well. I have no idea where to go there, but I plan on setting up my Clam Big Foot and hoping its the right spot tomorrow.

Planning on hitting the dam area early Saturday morning. It'll be my first fishing trip on hard water this year and I can't wait! Anybody know how messy it is out there in regards to slush? Had a friend out there a few days ago wailing the monster crappie and perch, but I can't ask him as he works swing shift. Be safe and good luck out there guys!

Yeah I was there for a few hours today. caught a ton of dink gills, couple keepers. Just couldn't find any slob gills. Got 1- 11 in crappie. Had some fun with the tip ups, 5 tigers from 24 in to 34 in. Lost a huge one at the hole. There was one group that went out by turtle bay and fished the main lake.
