I don’t have experience with it but If it stops everything from sliding around and making a mess I don’t see why it wouldn’t work out. $25 seems reasonable to me.

A remnant piece of carpet works too. Often free and you can throw it away if you don't want to clean it.

Carpet is disgusting, even brand new. I’d rather use a towel, and often do.

They're great for filleting trout and salmon. There's almost no movement even when you put serious pressure on the blade.
Not bad for filleting perch and walleye. But, they're not good for skinning -- the "fingers" flex and it's tough to maintain blade angle. I rough the fillets out and then skin on a cutting board.
Easy to clean and you can throw them in the dishwasher.
I've been happy with mine.

Disposable dog peep pads work well. I wouldn't want it if I can't skin on it. I never seem to have enough xtra table space.

i agree.i use a 18x36 plastic fillet board it holds fish and utensils fits on tub and cleans easily.

I've been using a plastic board similar to this on a short bucket set in the sink for yrs. easy to clean after I'm done. I picked it up at a local bait shop. it has grooves cut on the underside to fit multiple pails/tub

I too looked at those only online (not in hand). Seemed kind of pricy with mixed reviews. I still clean my fish on a cutting board cover with newspaper to absorb excess moisture. I do this in the winter when cleaning inside the house. When the top couple sheets of newspaper get too moist, peel them off down to the next layer or two and continue on. In the summer the cutting board goes outside where I have running water to rinse the board as I clean.
I have not purchased this product simply because what I'm presently doing seems to be working "ok". If someone wishes to buy this for me, I'll gladly post a review. ;D

I use the Filletmaker fillet board by Ruffland Kennels. Rotomolded plastic. Contains all the mess. Easy to clean. Durable.

These were about $35 at first. Cabelas sold them out for $19.95 but when I ordered 2 they canceled my order. Probably a good thing, don’t need 1 surface for cutting up and another for skinning. Skinning is the slippery part.
