What I saw Today

I measured a 18 1/2 " white crappie today for another iceshanty fisherman. Great fish!   ;D ;D

If that was caught in NY, I would almost gaurantee a state record :cookoo:

the state goes by weight..   I believe the NY state record is 3lb 12oz for a black..  dad got one in '04 that was 18 7/8" and 3lb 8 1/2 oz..  I thought for sure it would be a record when he yanked it outta the hole    but nope..
any pics? weights on that hogger..

He went to a post office to get the fish weighed. Could be a NYS record. Out of watervliet res. Didn't have a camera with me!!!

Watervilet really the few times ive fished there ive only caught perch gills nad crappie all under 6 inches

A white crappie that big huh :-\
I know one spot that I catch both at, the whites are always bigger than the blacks. Also, one white crappie is caught for about every 50 black crappies.
Gair-z, I am aware that fish records are in weight not length :P

believe it or not, southern champlain at one time gave up many whites of that size...no more no more....

comeon johhny you know you were talking about white perch,you would know the differents between the two,dont let him kid anyone there not white crappies in champlain,there just over sized white perch.

We didn't have a digital with us. We wern't fishing with the person that caught this fish. Took pictures with him with his regular camera.  Great fish  ;D ;D.

figures you'd think that way....you couldn't identify them even if you could catch them...but you can't catch them either...
