Messalonskee

Wondering if anyone has been up there and if there is open water wanting to take the kayak out maybe up in the stream for some spawning pike never tried it
Or is it still ice fishable thanks guys for any info
Or maybe any other lake up that way only ever fished messalonskee willing to try anything

I drove past the Belgrade end of Messalonskee today. There is enough open water in Belgrade stream to fish from a kayak. The ice on the lake looks good but I wouldn't try to get on from route 27. Bring ice fishing gear and kayak fishing gear. Do both in one day. I strongly recommend a wetsuit for the kayak just in case a 25 pound pike catches you off guard. A spray skirt can make a big difference in comfort when ice cold water is dripping off your paddle.
