Where can I get one?
« on: Nov 27, 2007, 07:15 PM »
Hey guys I'm looking to buy a Pike decoy or if I have to make one. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I've found a couple places online using Google using the search "spear decoy."

Anglers Mart seems to have the largest selection.  I've not bought anything from them before, so buyer beware.

Alright, stupid question, but why would you need a pike decoy?  How would you use it?

I have seen them on e-bay and was confused about them.
I love a flag!!!!

You use them to lure in a pike, before you spear it.  Like hunting, only with water, a spear, and a lot more adrenalin

I want to use it with my tip-ups to lure in the bigger pike. I'd rather fight the fish on a tight line then stab it in the back.(((((FLAG))))) But spearing does sound interesting. I just don't want to kill them.

Not too many fish make it back into the hole of the darkhouse.  Something about have a couple 1/4" steel tines shoved through them that they don't like too much.

Ebay has some great decoys on sale some of the vintage decoy's are getting quite costly .... here's a picture of someone's  collection of Henry Max decoys, there the one's on the left @ $35.00 to 45.00 each!
I only work so that I can afford to fish, hunt, & farm

Bucknaked makes some sweet decoys.  I used to make a bunch of them, before children.  Got a band saw and a drill?  If you google how to carve a spearing decoy, you can find some pretty simple instuctions.  Weighting them so that they swim is the hardest part and it took me about one try to figure it out.

With the new funky looking fish housings on the Aqua Views, buy one of them. Then you can have a decoy and camera all in one
