There is an article in this magazine on page 41 titled"European Approach" about catching northern pike.
On page 42 there is a picture of a spring bobber or whip that is attached to the rod tip that releases the line when the fish strikes.
In the upper left corner there is another pic that shows the rigging for this but there is not enough shown to be able to see how it works.
Have any of you guys seen or used one of these rigs and can explain how it works?
 Thanks....

Has the rain a father?
Or who has begotten the drops of dew?
From whose womb comes the ice?
And the frost from heaven, who gives it birth?
By the breath of God ice is given and the broad waters are frozen.
The waters harden like stone and the surface of the deep is frozen.

I didn't quite understand it either, though the mag makes for some good pre-ice reading. The perch article was pretty much a re-write of the piece in In Fisherman's ice magazine, though. I really liked the article on sight fishing; might have to get one of those black cubes.

My buddy is an outdoors writer and photog... he submits stock photos along with stories for mags, sometimes they use 'em with the article, other times for a filler pic (such as this case).

Mom is so proud.
