She just rolls her eyes at me. I don't bother discussing it, because she won't get it. Although she did buy me new ice fishing tip ups, rod and thermals for my bday.

She doesn't mind, she's a good woman and a great wife. Wasn't like that when we were first dating and married(hunting and fishing I mean). She loosened up after figuring out that I was really in the woods or on the water and not at a bar or something. By the time I started doing the Shanty, she was hip. Winning a couple tournaments or even placing helped, a little return on the investment ya know. Once in awhile I get a moan or two, but a little her time is really what she's after. You gotta 'splain your passion and share your time to keep the peace. ;) :tipup:

She decided to have " ex " put in front of her status to show her disapproval to the sport of ice-fishing, and because I was not an orphan and had a family that she needed to hate. When she finds an orphan without opinions or hobbies she will be all set.

Shawner, it's worked out about the same for me. It was a little tough when we were young but after 30 years she knows summer will come. For Christmas I bought her a rock. She bought me two rods and a case. :thumbsup: Love that woman.

Yeah Catchaser, a little time spent together goes a long way. Give her some quality time and you should get some quality ice or Shanty time. Still can't get her to go though, she does like that I take the kids to give her some shopping or girlfriend gossip time. If they're happy................. ...................! :tipup:

I'm at the end of doing a complete bathroom remodel. Everytime she would "peer into" our computer room and see me on iceshanty.com she would say " ice shanty.com again??? Are you ever going to get the bathroom done?" Fortunately, both our kids love ice fishing..........she is outnumbered! ;)

My x-wife didn't have much of a problem when it came to me lurking around on the ice shanty - she had WAY more of problem with my fishing addiction then anything else - only got her to go twice and that was open water - she refused to go ice fishing - just told her it was her loss and went twice a month - they were the best and the worse two days of the month ;) - but then again this is one of only a few hundred reasons we got divorced - so its a good thing we call her x now - first year in many without her - should be LOTS of ice fishing going on.

:roflmao: I never looked at it this way... I'll have to budget out my priorities, we have spring northern run, then the perch/gill spawn - looks like i can fit in finding a woman at the end of July till august - then the walleye pickup till ice. 2 months should do it ;)

My g/f is a big supporter.Last two christmas presents were ice armor and aquaview camera. She is all about any of my hunting and fishing activities as long as i am out of the house and let her sleep till noon on sat. and sunday. Couldn't work out any better.

My gf loves icefishing...i took her out for the first time last year and she is hooked and has been kicking my ass ever since both on the ice and in a boat...was talkin the other day about how she wants to join in on some tournies this year ;D

im not sure...i cant hear her ...because she is at the bingo hall :laugh: i have one of the most understanding wives ever...i can fish 3 nights a week and then both days on the weekend...come to think of it i think shes most happy when im leaving ::) at least if im on here she gets to control the remote control :-*

Simple; my wife comes with me very willingly. I drill holes, she sounds them and baits the trap; great system and she outfishes me which is a good thing ;) ;)

Luckily, she enjoys fishing and the outdoors as much as I do :) She knows.....fishing, hunting and the outdoors were here before her and they will be after her :) I am just glad that she likes to go and enjoys fishing. Shoot, she's looking to get a custom made rod with a pink blank from mudhole :o

I just recently got married and upon our flight back from out honeymoon(Tahiti), the plain was flying just above the clouds. I looked out our window seat and yelled "Tip up" to her. The man next to her laughed and she said "Already, how long before you long into Ice Shanty for the season"? If she only new I have been before we left. (The clouds below the plane looked just like a lake covered with snow.) Tight lines...

All women are psycho, in my opinion. I am divorced for 3 years, and the ex did not even believe that ice fishing existed, because she never heard of it. Then, a cool girlfriend came into mylife that went ice fishing with me last winter, she said she enjoyed it, and maybe she really did, but a month ago she dumped me so I will probably, and fortunately be ice fishing alone this winter. That is the only way a guy is going to catch anything descent - when a woman is not around.
So, my true love is ice fishing and IceShanty.com. Women may come and go, but there is only one IceShanty.com. I will never conform to the world that women have created, or think they have created. I really don't care anymore what they think of me or my hobbies. Since I am easy on their eyes, and have a good job, I decide when and who I date. I may stay away from women this entire ice season, so that they don't have a chance to ruin it for me. Then in the Spring I will go on the prowl again. Gotta stand tall this year for the sport of ice fishing.

The gf has a place of her own, so she doesn't care, nor know, how much I'm on Ice Shanty. But, once fishable ice hits, all I hear from her is "Let's go, Let's go, LET'S GO" :woot: :woot: :woot:. I think she loves to icefish more than me. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
