5gal bucket-some pvc-zip ties
« on: Jan 22, 2013, 10:15 PM »

Got some inspiration from guys from the site and had the time. Used a dremel to cut notches for the reels.
Staggered 1 1/4 PVC.......3 high and 3 low to be able to fit my 6 rods. Had some extra PVC so just made an extra holder on the outside for anything. Put the tubes on the inside to better protect the reels&keep the hooks in the center.  ;D Cut the tubes 8"s and notched them 5/8's wide and 2"s long. Worked out good.

Nice job there. I have been looking for a way to carry/transport my rod besides throwing them in a pail. Will have to try something like this.

Nice bucket.

I have a similar set up but with PVC on outside, boxes go inside, hook the dipper over the lip.

I did the same thing 3 years ago to a bucket and my cousin laughed at me. But hell, it works.
Man.. fishing was way easier when grandpa would take us.

PVC attached to a bucket has been around for years, yet still seems to be the most effective way for rod/reel transport. Great job on your design.

Same idea in a milk crate works for me. I pull all of my gear on an homemade wooden sled and have a spot for 2 milk crates - one with rods and tackle and one with lantern. Then I strap on 1 or 2 more milk crates on top of the sled with bait and whatever else. Use one of the crates upside down for a seat.

I use one of these for carrying my 18-24" ice rods
