Rainbow & Browns

I have been told that there are some fairly good sized rainbow and browns in the lake I always ice fish. I do not know what set up to use for a tilt or for jigging. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
Lake is roughly 360 acres
Max depth 37 feet

If the shoreline has a gravel bottom, try setting a tip up in 3-4 feet of water with the bait just underneath the ice.  Big browns and bows sometimes cruise these areas looking for a snack.  Used this method on Lake St Catherine in Vermont, caught a few rainbows and browns over 5 pounds.  You may go all day without a flag, but sooner or later, you will be running for a good trout.

Rainbows can be at any depth and tend to suspend often, while browns tend to hang deeper and will be a bit more bottom oriented.
Jigging is the best way bar none to get into trout. I would start with smallish spoons like a Custom jigs and Spins Stinger or a small swedish pimple. Tip the spoon with a piece of nightcrawler or a waxworm.
I like to find flats with some gravel or fish just off of the first drop off. I have found the best depths for rainbows to be 7 - 25 feet, with 15 feet being ideal.
Browns tend to hang just a bit deeper. Make sure you keep an eye on your flasher and jig the whole water column, from the bottom to just under the ice. I have found that in for example 15 foot depths, the rainbows will most often seem to be in the 5 - 10 foot range below.

I am determined also. I have only caught one nice laker in my life and that was last winter. I am new to this site and I regret not finding it sooner.

Are the trout at different depths in the larger lakes,---Sebago Winnie etc?

at first ice bows are right up top....at least on the lakes I fish in upstate NY.  Browns can be up high early in the morning and then near the bottom later on.  In other words they can be anywheres.

Thanks Dwayne, I usualy target bass-n.pike. I've never caught lake or a brown.

I agree, use tip-ups at a shallow depth under the ice. It seems to me that I have caught most of my nice browns with a minnow just 3-4 ft under the ice. I really catch most of them jigging though.

I have always had my best luck in 4-6 ft and near where a stream comes in.
