Flathead Lake - Boat
« on: Jan 21, 2014, 03:54 PM »
Anyone been on Flathead fishing for Lakers from a Boat?  I know it's ice season, but the weather is so nice, and it has me thinking

After x-mas is usually a good start time if you the hardy type. It will keep getting better. The
typical warm spell in mid February is usually really good.
the worse part is launching on the non existing docs & ramps covered with ice
Get bit!

Westshore is usually good all winter, but the ice can be tricky.  Good time to fish shallow on the Delta drop offs right now...
If I\'m not fishing, I\'m probably thinking about fishing...And if I\'m thinking about fishing, I\'m probably not getting much else done so, I might as well go fishing...Yeah, I just said that!

Thanks for the info guys.  Had a lot of fun jigging last year in March, but I want to get out in Feb. which isn't too far away

Back before they started killing all of the fish. We would find these up on the Delta in February.

I need to check out flathead and kokanusa with my boat early this year. I always threaten too, but usually stay with the ice fishing till it is gone.

Talk to zimmer tackle in Pablo.  If he can't help you catch fish, you won't catch fish.  He can help you with jigging or trolling, and he's a great guy.  If you are not catching fish, you can call him on the cell phone (cuz he's usually fishing) and he'll suggest a new place.  He makes his own tackle, and teaches classes at various sportsman's on his technique. He's even offered to jump in the boat with me to help me figure it out.

Awsome guy, local, and just want's to teach people to catch fish.

Also sells great cut bait!!!!!
