Ames area spots???
« on: Jan 17, 2015, 04:37 PM »
Hey all, I'm trying ice fishing around Ames for the first time since I'm here at school.  Does anybody have any consistent spots they used to fish around here?  Ada Hayden, Peterson, McFarland, I don't care.  I'm not aiming for the trout in Ada Hayden but I won't argue with 'em either.  I'm just looking for places to get bit and can give me a few fish to break up the monotony of my cheap-as-hell college student cooking.  Anybody willing to help?  pm me if you don't want to share too much I suppose.

Try Hickory Grove just to the East of you on #30.  Go South at the corner where Twin Anchors golf & campground about 2 miles.  Nice place.  Its before you get to Colo.

Hickory is good.  Maybe, I can show you a few spots some time.
