Title: planning weekend trip to Newlan and Holter lakes
Post by: panfishman13 on Feb 14, 2018, 10:57 AM
i'm from southeast idaho, and all of our ice is gone already. we were feeling a bit bummed out about not getting at least one more trip, so we decided to bump up to montana and look for some Burbot over president's day weekend (this weekend, feb. 16-19).

i've been reading through the reports board, and got most of the information i need, but i was wondering if there are any tips or technical concerns i should know about when fishing Newlan and Holter. my dad seems to remember there being a decent amount of current in Holter lake the last time he fished there, but that was back in the early '90s. anything else you'd like to tell us, we'd be happy to hear, and feel free to send me a PM if you don't feel comfortable posting your tip for all to see  ;)

noted! we'll be down there for 3 days so we'll probably have time to go to a couple other spots if the fishing ain't great.

Head straight across the channel from white sandy to the far bank around that cliff, that is an easy walking spot.

Hey guys, I think I talked to you at Newlan, I was trout fishing when you guys got setup, gave me a trout.

I left and went to Clark Canyon and iced 3 24" ling Saturday and Sunday.

Hope you made it up to Hauser, its good fishing there as well, I almost went there, but was trying to get out of the storm. It caught me anyways at Clark Canyon.
