yellow creek lake

[new on the ice]

Has anybody been here ice fishing?
I am thinking about giving this place a try this weekend.
I dont want your secret spots or anything,but i sure could use some help on where to start and what to fish for.
 I am relatively new at this and am exploring different lakes.Any info would be appretiated. If i do make it there, I will be sure to post report.

pike..pike..and pike..You will catch a lot of smaller 21-24 inchers but will be fun with a chance of bigger...fish the coves and by docks..ask  park rangers very helpful there

When you fish for these pike.
Do you use any type of steel leader or anything?
What kind of line,hooks and weight?

New On Ice.  Take a look at the Yellow Creek thread on the reports and conditions page.  The lake was completely open water over the past weekend.  Might still be iffy this weekend.  It tends to be a slow one to freeze over.  I always use wire leader when targeting pike with tip ups, some guys go with heavy flurocarbon.

I just took a ride up there yesterday and grandmas and grandpas coves were iced over. Also where the shallows of big yellow creek comes in was all chunck ice from the north to south wind blowing. Didn't check out near the dam.
