« on: Jan 09, 2018, 07:26 PM »
Since my fav eye/perch lake is now un-frozen, I say love the dandylion and enjoy the 70f temps. What a gorgeous tommorow, tommorow I love ya tommorow day to huck some metal. Met Stickbait out there and I hammered this tasty specimen at 2pm, lost another at 3pm, and that was it.

Sweet!!!  You got the right idea, rather be catching perch or eyes on open water than any trout thru the ice.

Heck, Ive been in NY for 2 weeks loading up on limits of lake george perch.  I may not even go ice fishing in colorado this season when I return.    Ive iced over 200 perch in 5 outings so far.  Tacos til 2019.

Screw standing on a boring dam shoot a 78 at highlands ranch golf club yesterday in a lovely 70* January day  ;D this has to be one of the warmest Denver winters on record the ground isn't even frozen . Usually we use a Awl to make a starter hole for the tee but not this year.

Nice Slayer.  It's totally unfrozen?! I want to give it a go through the ice Sunday.  I'll consider going to the mountains instead.

Pretty common during La Niņa years.   I remember 4 years ago icing a boulder perch spot in jan and it was 65 degrees.   Catfishking was there, he hammered the crappie

Been out for lakers a couple times didn't do much, no more than 3 or 4 any time out, but average size is 22-26" and 3-5lbs.  Guys are putting up some good double digit laker days though on Lake George so far.  It's hard to go after lakers when I can be loading up on perch however.  I'll take a limit of perches over about anything else, Maybe even walleye, nah just kidding  ;)  Perching is too much fun.   Drill til ya find em and hammer away.  Have had several 2hr limits (50 fish), with 20 throwbacks.  When you find a school it's non stop lip rippin.

Lived here for 50 years have plowed snow for 25 of those years this weather is the farthest thing from a pretty common winter even if it is a La Nina.

Been here 58 years and this is not like any Winter I can remember. If we don't get some moisture here soon this whole State's going to burn up this Summer.
Ice fishing is also tougher than usual. I can catch trout but no Northern and frankly I don't much care about trout any more. Got a road trip scheduled with a buddy for late March down to Lake Fork for slabs so at least there's a reason to go on living.
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.
