You never know what you are going to catch when you head out on the ice.
I got lucky and caught 2 ice fishing personal bests this year, and both came from Oneida Lake, different days.
Ice Season is winding down for me,..... here are the 2 fish.

long, wide and thick bluegill

20" Smallie on a chubby darter

Question: Why are their sides/fins bloody? Is that something that happens in that lake?

not really that common., but knocked off a few warts on the fish,..growths and warts are more common on the walleyes.

nice job choo choo.........Myrtle Beach trip was awesome......got 4 rounds of golf and the wife got to run every day.........off to florida today for some family visits........was a very good ice season for sure

(My golf clubs are packed, and I am heading south today or tomorrow for a few days ..waiting on some friends who are staying here at my house while i'm down south....can't wait to put that first tee in the ground !)

Lost the biggest walleye I've ever hooked right a the hole early in the season, was definitely over 8 lbs, possibly pushing 10. Followed up with my biggest largemouth bass ever in February, 22 inch brute that I was very lucky to pull out of a 6 inch ice hole. Hand scale was frozen, so I couldn't get the weight, I'm quite sure it was in the 6 lbs range though.

Great day for you Freshwater..Beautiful Largemouth bass, and they fight good too, to bad about the walleye.
I have iced several Largemouths in the 22 " class, but this was my first ever ice fishing Smallmouth that reached that magical 20" inch mark.

Ice season is probably over for me.

But I got to thinking about how "funny" it is that a fat little 10" inch panfish can get so many "thumbs ups"...nice fish etc.
I will try , (but I know it won't happen) to catch a bigger one next year ! lol

I have yet to catch a smallmouth on ice, sort of weird, being that I've caught dozens of largies on ice.
