I don't have a lot of experience ice fishing, but would like to learn some tips on how to catch cusk.

Cusk is another term for Burbot.

Cusk is another term for Burbot.
Thanks toguefisha.  I have seen Burbot but never caught or eaten.

I have found that every region is different. Some methods we use here in BC do not work in Manitoba or Alberta. You would get the el skunko so you have to use different methods and see which works best in your region. I have also noticed here in BC every lake is different in the way the burbot/cusk like the lure presented ie: jigged (and the jigs vary from lake to lake), vs tip-up/setline. I have put in a tip up here and fished around it in a circle fashion about 8 ft from tip-up and hammered the fish just jigging and never caught one on tip-up. However at another lake in Alberta I put out tip-up in same fashion and the tip-up caught and the jigging caught not a one. You just have to see which is best for the lake you are fishing on.
