Ryobi, well cuz I can't afford Milwaukee and I'm not a handyman either. My uses are very minimal.
Anyway I was thinking of bringing out some of my Ryobi 18v lighting tools when I really notice how much open vented spots they have. Anything on the snow is gonna get water or snow into things. Bummer. Useless tools! Well except around the house and backyard.
Turns out I'm not suppose to even use some of these tools while it's raining. Geez - I can't even use their flashlight or search light in the rain. That's when I need it most. Oh well, I may have to look into other things.

They've finally done and got something right and useful for lighting options. This one totally blows away all the other lights they've came out in terms of usefulness, light output, and run time. Three settings of 900 lumens, 600 lumens, and 100 lumens. Low power suppose to give 35 hours of light on a high capacity battery that's the P105 battery, maybe equals a typical 3 AH.
For some reason, it seems no one can make a lantern / area light that's cordless in a useful package. Several of their other lights are dim at most. Don't waste buying them, nor the other two flashlight models. It's been some years since I've tried any camping style battery lights and my share of Coleman led, fluorescent lights, even up to 1200 lumens, that are just dim, when outside of a 4 person tent. Several of the Ryobi lanterns are also dim.
P780 with 130 lumens
P781 with 330 lumens
P784 with 400 lumens
P785 with 1500 lumens (three lights combined)
P727 with 950 lumens
I've tried both the P781 and P784 area light / lantern and they were dismal dim.
Now if I think about it, Lithium ion batteries for Ryobi are only rated for use down to 32F. So I better try to only use it in the heated shelter.

i hot glued to an ammo box with lithium battery inside. i use hot glue to build up where the wires enter the cob light strip.
i also hot glued one to the bottom of my sonar for nite fishing and took it off after buying the lithium shuttle.
look for a clear bag for your lamp, maybe a freezer bag.

Years ago, I did build a make shift fog light 12v area light box. Maybe it's time to buy some 12v led lights. COB leds are more efficient now.

Have you used the p727? If you have used that one you wouldn’t be saying this:

This is the folding bench light. The only knock on the thing is that it’s not a hybrid light. The one you pictured is a nice light as well but I don’t use it nearly as much as I use the p727. Shoveled snow at 1am the other morning...threw a 4ah Lithium+ HP battery in it and after an hour in 18-20 degree temps it read 4 bars. Had that one on the ice with me a ton last season. Used it to do some overnight maple sap cooking sessions...and temps ducked down into the upper teens on some of those nights.
This seems to be the Ryobi light that people seem to hesitate the most on. Not sure if they would find uses for it but then after they get their hands on it and see the versatility they come back and wonder why they didn’t get it sooner.
I also have the cable lights and those are pretty slick. For ice fishing use they’d be good in a permanent shack but for a portable they’d be a bit of a pain. I don’t use them a lot but for power outages they’ve been invaluable.
As I said above...if the p727 would be a hybrid light it would be as close to perfect as they come.

The P727 is just a little larger but only has one light setting - sort of. It's one light or both light sections. Both light sections equals 950 lumens.
It was the light I considered first hand, but held back as since, it would only make one all night trip on one battery. I sometimes need two full nights out and that lower power setting on the P790 really is perfect for what I intend to use. If it also had a low power mode, like 100 lumens on one light section, it would've been my preference. So run time, it doesn't have.
And I do agree, if they make it a hybrid power light, it would be much more useful utility light over the the P790 for other lighting options. But that really wasn't the decision factor for me.
So it did fell short for what I intend to use.
