Don't forget the Stanton Knights of Columbus tourney is this weekend Jan 20th out at Maskenthine!!! Info in the Nebraska Trny and Events section at top of page.
How many are planning on fishing it this year.

Not an intimidating lake to fish. Has been years since I've drilled a hole on the Thine and not caught a fish out of it. With water down the fish will be on top of each other. If you are new to tourneys this is one to get your foot in the door. Usually not too big of a turnout and takes one pike or bass and you find yourself in the money.

Thanks exactly the advice I was looking for! I know there are many ice vets on this forum, and not having fished Maskenthine before it seems like a tough feat to get in the placing. Sounds like a great time though, definitely want to try to make it out

Would love to go but I gots no partner and it's an hour and a half drive out there. Maybe next year unless I can talk my dad into tagging along. :-\

Everyone should be thankful who pulls a sled that weighs over 100 lbs after gear is loaded. These warm days have melted all the snow off the ice and then its refreezing at night. Ice will be fine. Once again the days are shorter this time of year, the sun isnt directly over us, so when it gets to 40 degrees and higher it is only for a short period of time. Take advantage of the warm afternoons while you can.

I remember a few years ago, the ice was like glass up there, we got around the lake great while pre-fishing the day before. That night we got 4-6 inches of fresh powdered snow. When we wnt to take off at the shotgun start 95% of the participants wiped out at least onece. I have since invested in some better spikes for my boots. ;D

Where is the check in at? I may be able to drive up there and donate a entry fee if I can find a partner. Never been there before so I would appreciate directions to check in location. Work will probably foil my plans but what the heck, spin the wheel if they don't.

The check in is at the south campground at the lake.
Take 10th st North out of Stanton. It will turn into Ridge rd. Take that North to 839th rd and head West. Turn South at the main entrance and follow that road as far south as you can. You will come to a Y in the road left goes to the boat ramp and right goes to the campground.
Hope you can make it.

I wasn't on the web when you asked but I think I had 5 crappies and a catfish 20 minutes in. That would have been funny to get a chat going. About 12.30 pm I would have been all over that.
