each fish has its own distinct taste to it.  all depends on what the fish got to eat that day.  its kind of like playing bean boozled

The fish in Stoney taste good up until around Mid July when they sometimes get grassy or muddy from the green water. No different than fish in the Lenore lakes or fishing lake or the North end of Last Mountain.
Old fishermen never die, they just smell that way.

Humboldt sewage runs into Stoney at times so it is like eating terd soup.  I wont eat a fish from that lake.  I will leave them for other to enjoy.

Ha ha that is so funny, that’s like Big River dumps its sewer into Cowan, turning it to pea soup by midsummer. That’s why I don’t eat the fish from Cowan but send everyone else there. It takes the pressure off good lakes.

This is just more misinformation. Humboldt has a sewage treatment plant and a lagoon where all wastes are treated before they ever have a chance to make it to the lake. The output is tested on a regular basis. These stories have been around for ages. The fish in this lake are healthy and put up a good fight. Feel free to leave them all for me  ;)

Lake Lenore also releases their "treated" sewage into the lake in april every year but people still fish and eat the fish on the little lake...pretty gross IMO

I would be more concerned about untreated sewage. There are laws and regulations in place and once the solids are removed and the nitrogen cycle (beneficial bacteria) is complete there is nothing harmful left. There is far more danger from farm chemicals and cattle wastes getting directly into the water. Things like  Cryptosporidium and E-Coli come to mind.

kind of like the folks that eat fish out of tobin or diefenbaker but never out of the north or south saskatchewan rivers.

Speaking of the Humbolt area, have any of you ever ice or open water fished at Burton Lake, a bit N of the city? :-\
If so what's in it, and how the action? ???

I have never seen anyone on here even mention it, so thought I would ask. :)

WW
Looking for that BIG BITE!

I dropped a line there 2 years ago and caught a couple of  pike. I am not sure if it still has perch in it.

Burton lake has walleye and pike in it.  guys do catch fish there but it is not very popular.  In the summer it has a no motor restriction on it so people just cast from shore.
