Did not see any ATV's, but I did see a snowmobile out on Tuesday. It was going pretty close to the banks on little lake.

Most of the fishing is being done in the little lake right now.
Mix of crappies perch and small eyes.
Don't be afraid to leave the crowds and look for fish in the big lake.
Finding a school of unpressured yellows with a mix of crappies is not too hard if drill a bunch of holes and stay mobile.

Focus on 4-6', spoons with spikes.

Good luck

Went out today and brought three guys with me that were pretty new to ice fishing. Fishing was pretty slow in front of macintosh prolly ended up with 17 yellows 1 dink walleye and 1crappie. It almost seemed like we couldnt find a school I dont think we caught more than one fish out of each hole. Im sure taking four ppl with one dull hand augeer didnt help to much either. Going to try a different spot tonight

The vanilla gorilla and I shook the dust out of our gear and hit MacIntosh this morning from 930 to 1130.  We ended up with 34 keepers.  A few crappies and perch mixed in.  All in all, it was good to get things going.  We used forage minnow jigs with waxworms, power bair, and gulp minnows.  Wax worms were the best.

We cleaned fish (I cleaned the fish due to him lacking opposable thumbs), set up for fish tacos, and headed up to Keunnens Quarry.  We got 6 keepers up there and threw back some dinks and 2 nice largemouths.  Fish tacos were excellent, and I'll probably head to Farmer's in the morning.  He is a degenerate Vikqueen fan, so he'll be getting his lavender clothes on for the game.  Overall, a good start....

People are also proving they can drive trucks and SUV's on *maybe* 10"   ::) (I wouldn't recommend that)!   Bite was great until 8:30 AM  only found about a dozen between then and 11:00.

Seen several trucks on the ice this morning. Fished out from McIntosh from 8-noon. Moved around alot and couldn't seem to get away from the smaller fish. 100+ fish day but only kept 3 of em. 5-12 fow with chartrues frosty spoons. Anything around 15-20fow seemed to be stacked with 4" yellows. If your marking piles of fish at those depths its most likely the little guys. Lots of permenants starting to come out.

Well, it's refreshing to hear of reports of crappie & perch mixed in since the dredge. It's nice having other opportunities to catch something between 10:00 am & 3:30 pm. Can Clear Lake sustain a healthy crappie fishery with the yellows or will the yellows always have the upper edge due to pure numbers?

I think if everyone keeps taking at least a 100 yellows every outing and share their spots with the masses maybe clear lake could become an excellent crappie/perch/walleye destination. Keep up the good work guys and keep every yellow you catch and help others catch them. :D

Remember December of 2012, when the Clear Lake threads stayed at the top because nowhere south of there had good ice?  ;D

This is shaping up to be a very good ice season in January and February (early March, please?) for the southern two thirds of Iowa. Too bad this December was almost as bad as last December.
