I think that I going to head to clear lake tomorrow moring.  I have never been there and Im not going to ask for the hot spots, but I would like to know where the  arrorators are that everyone always talks about and I hear about people falling in at.  Any ideas to keep me dry?

You won't miss them. Just stay away from City beach on the east end.

Or even 10...
There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the ice looking like an idiot.

Small jigging spoons with a head small jigs with crappie minnows deadsticked. Can catch them basically on anything.  Hook splitshot about 6 inches up and a well trimmed ice buster works well also.  Heading over there as we speak.  I'll try and leave a few for ya guys ;)

You can use waxies, spikes, minnows, plastics.  If you find the fish, Clear Lake yellows are as close to 'shooting fish in a barrel' as you will come.  Not saying I havent had bad days, it can certainly happen.  But these fish arent typically as picky as other species.  If youve got waxies but no minnows, that wouldnt stop me from going out.

Please use extreme caution near the Island there was open water near there a few days ago.  And with less than stellar temps im sure the ice is only a inch or two thick in places.  Farmers had 7 inches after last nite it should be close to 8.  Looks like another warmup is on the way so be safe guys.

Thinking of bringing the wheelshack out one of these days. Im tired of draging the portable around. What are you opinions on ice thickness to weight ratios?

I fished the little part today.  I was out there from 11am to 5pm and ony got a few blue gills.  It was really slow.  I drilled a bunch of holes dropping the locator in and couldnt find much.  I did have a big muskie swim by my holes.  He was only like an inch from the bottom of the ice and wasnt in a hurry to get any where.  That alone was worth the trip!!

I have heard second hand that 7" will support 1500 lbs.

This was from a guy waiting to drag his permy out on Elm a couple weeks ago. I would research other places before taking this advice, I would feel horrible if you went it!

I'll be out tomorrow. taking the father in law out who doesn't fish much. any tips for fishing clear lake?I would like to just target yellows just to show him a good time. I realize the pressure will be on the rise the next couple days so fishing probably wont be the best. i have the gear just need help on approx where to fish. I hear of farmers and little lake but not  real sure on those locations. any advice would be great.

If your on little lake It wont be too hard to figure out where to fish there will be a bunch of shacks out there.  If your going to little lake fish in 7-8 feet of water just out from the weed beds.  The moring and afternoons are when people seem to be having the best luck.  I fished there yesterday and it was slow.  Good luck!!

Crappiebuster do you know the name of the private pond with houses on it. I think it is the pond just off interstate but before you get into clear lake.

Nope I dont know the name of it. Always wondered if there was fish in it.  Maybe bribe one of the homeowners with a dirty 30 or somethin to fish on it? Worth a shot anyways.

Supprising the high pressure did not affect the bite that much today. Took my son and couple friends out fished around 4 hours finished with another 127 yellows.

Small jigs, spikes, light line 2# was the key today. green, gold, pink all were good colors today.

We did lose 2 keeper walleyes in the hole and I broke off an unknown big fish, the downfall of light line.  :(

Anybody else have reports?

The little lake isn't the only place to fish.  ;)

Merry Christmas to all!!!
