Havent fished the main lake as of yet. Definetly move around till you find active biters.  Google Crazy Minnow in Clear Lake for directions to the bait shop.  It's right off the highway.  Farmers beach area on the main lake is usually good this time of year also.  Smaller/slender spoons with a minnowhead or small minnow has been working well. Cant give up any colors though  ;D

Stay safe out there guys

CrappieBuster,

Again, thanks for the information.  Hopefully all of us from Central and Southern Iowa won't be intruding on your lake too much in the next couple of weeks.  The lakes down here are in pretty rough shape and we are getting a little jealous of you guys building good ice up there!

Have you heard anything on the Walleye or Perch bite?

Thanks for the info.  I'm going to try clear lake next week after I get my Vex.  Can't wait!

If you are fishing CL, I would mainly plan on yellow bass.  You may get a bonus walleye, but its not anything Id count on.

The little lake is full of fish.  I drilled 15 holes and all but 2 had fish in them.  Lots of small Yellows but there was some bonus Crappies in the area. Look for suspended fish in 10-13 fow. Have fun guys I have to work this weekend so no fishing for me :(   O solid 5" of good ice

No problem on the info and theres definetly no problem on intrusion theres 3500 acres there.  Caught a few perch tonite they were smaller 6 being smallest and maybe 8 bein biggest.  No yellows and no keeper eyes.  Had one that was darn close though.  Most were in the 8-10in range.  Fish were being pretty tight lipped though.  Ice was being pretty vocal tonite definetly building out there and about 4 degrees when we pulled off.  If the weather would be colder next next week I think people would start pulling out the wheelhouses.  Hopefully by xmas we will be good to go. ;D

I'll probably pop up Monday. I should have gone up this morning instead of going to Elm.

The past couple wks have been awesome ice making weather. A steady cold front with fairly clear skies at night with no snow cover or precipitation. Not too windy expect for a couple days a while back. Great weather for a solid foundation of ice to start the year. We have deserved it after the past few years battling the snow cover.  :)

In the spring they catch some decent sized bluegills off the ventura grade. Any input out there as to where they might be hiding in the winter?

Good ice and lots of fish.  The little lake has 6 or so and the big lake must have 4-5.  Thats a guess on the main lake I haven't drilled a hole out there yet myself.

she might be a little wet but it should be ok for foot traffic.  If you can fish on a cloudy day they are the best!

Ice should make it easily thru this warm spell was out messin around for a bit on the south shore.  Got some yellows and a walleye that was super close.  Maybe make it out to fish in the sub-tropic temps tommorow.
