Great Advise guys!

I told Mr.russjess in a pm that being mobile was the key. He didn't follow the most important rule.

Secrets to a successful yellow outing:

1. stay mobile 10 ft can make the differ. between 2 and 20 fish move till you find a hotspot. ( I start with 15 to 20 holes in a grid 20' to 30' apart)

2. small jigs ( green, gold, orange/yelow)

3. 7 to 12 ft most of the time right now.

4. Tip said jigs with spikes or cut bait.

Great advice luckydog35! Was on a different lake last sunday, didn't catch a thing for the first 4 hrs in a particular area, moved to a spot 300 yds away and caught them as fast as you could get the jig/spoon down. Total night and day difference, the fish at the first spot were real finicky and at the 2nd spot super aggressive. When in doubt, move, then move again. ;D

Never really measured them i'd say the smaller ones are 7-8 and the bigger ones are around 10. I keep them all just because them yellows eat all the eyes food. ;)

Yeh they were biting fast and furious. No skill involved really.  Picked them up western edge of farmers in 10fow.

Did good last night in front of MacIntosh. I kept 25 Yellows cause that's all I care to clean and left a bunch of 4 inchers on the ice.  Some of the little ones were silver bass.  I caught fish on spikes, eyes, honey worms, power bait and jigging raps, but the best option was half a gulp smelt.  Man, the ice is getting thick.  I need to get a power auger!

Actually I do have one.  I don't remember what kind it is as I am at work now, but will post what it is later when I get home.  But here is what I do know.  My dad passed away 4 years ago and has an auger, which I am guessing 8inch.  I want to sell it as I already have one so I don't need it.  It has not been started in 4 years as it has sat in the shed.  There is little to no gas in it.  I would guess that it would need the carb cleaned and gone over as I have not tried to even start it.  So if you are interested or anybody out there PM me so the thread doesn't get hijacked.  I just want to get rid of it as it is taking up space in my garage so all I am asking is $100 cash.

King,
Consider it sold.  I drive through Northwood everyday (live in Manly, work in Glenville).  Drop me a line and we set something up.  Or we can meet fishing??????

Buster,
I am pretty hardcore.  Most people think my enormous left arm is from being married too long, but I must have cut 2 million holes in the last 35 years.  By the way, the auger was an upgrade from an old spoon auger back in the 70's and before that was a spud.

Is there a morning bite or is the bite best the last couple of hours of daylight? I am thinking about making the trip up there Friday. Last year I fished the little lake but is the bite better on the big lake? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would say morning & night are good.  But, I think the evening bite is better & a little more aggressive. Bet set up before the sun comes up in the morning.  In the afternoon, be reddy anywhere from 4:30 to 7:00.  I think the best bite is from 5:00-5:30 to 6:30.  Can be real slow in the middle part of the day with almost nothing biting.  Others who fish it more may know the secrets for mid day fishing on Clear. Maybe move a lot or target perch, I dunno. Buster may help. Good luck & yank some yellers out of the big pond!

I was wondering how the snow was over there also.  Can a man still get around over there?
Are the roads plowed open again at least?

It's crap coming on the Clear Lake thread & posting pictures of perch from Spirit.  Put it on a Spirit thread. If you're going to advertise your perch guide service, put it in a Spirit Lake thread.

County roads are plowed, no plowed roads on the ice, your on your own out there.  BTW perch have been going on Spirit for going on 3 years now, nothing new.
