Smelt in Kennebunk river

Years ago people used to put smelt shacks on the Kennebunk river. Does anyone know if there is still a smelt fishery in the river?

 I,m not sure ,i do remember smelt shacks on the royal river by the launch

Royal River use to be a good smelt river. But when they built the instate over pass it increased the current in the area of the launch ramp and now the river does not freeze good at all....
