the ice has cometh
« on: Nov 08, 2018, 09:21 AM »
There was a bit of ice forming for a couple of feet off shore yesterday morning.  I suspect it has again this morning at -7.  Last year at this time I was walking on 4 inches of clear ice.  It was so clear I could see snail shells on the bottom.  I have had no lake trout in my freezer for 8 months and I am going through with drawls.
Quesnel lake has a 4 or 6 fish lake trout limit if you can get your head past the polly mine spill chemicals.  No one fishes it much so the numbers are building.

I’d imagine those heavy metals would end up at the bottom of Quesnel lake,  I can’t see the Lakers being too much affected but I can see the ling being questionable to eat , due to their depths and they’re a bottom feeder?

that's too bad about the polly incident. hopefully is passed and didn't stick around long enuf to harm the fish or consuming them.
Around Prince George area- still no ice- but im sure the lakes are getting pretty cold so wont be long to make it hard once the cold weather shows up.. I always enjoy first ice for brook trout fishing- always seems to be the best- wish they would stock more lakes with them around here...

When the lake turned over the next fall all the white silt came to the top.  So Quesnel lake is still polluted in my books.

Had an inch of ice all across the lake and then the warm +5 wind blew and there is water on top of the ice all the way across the lake.  pout
