Nils Auger
« on: Mar 21, 2018, 07:44 AM »
I have a 8" Nils with the grey handles grips and just haven't stood up to the pressure over the years of drilling four feet of ice. They seem to split and I have tried to repair them with glue and tape. I noticed the newer Nils have yellow grips that are more beefy and was wondering if they can be replaced. I was think about making some out of oak if I can't find any replacements. I think with wood you wounldn't have that burning rubber smell.

Thanks Bob, but I think I'll look for those yellow ones or make them out of wood. Yes Woodchip, I am going through the same problem with my shoulder. I just had a MRI last Thursday and will get the results and what coarse of treatment I'll have to have on the 6th. I wish I was 20 again, I would have 45 years to get in the same shape again.

Or just put the Nils on a clam plate and save the shoulder.

I thought about but I think the Ion is a lot lighter and stronger.

The ION spec says it weighs 25 Lb orless

The Nils with a  drill weighs about 10 lb. Don't have to have a clam plate.
