Statewide Pike Derby?

Anyone hear a rumor about a Statewide pike derby on Feb 23rd for good $$$?  If true, who would be interested?

Only a matter of time until the state record does come out of Sebago with the big girls already being pulled from there!!!!!

I've heard chatter everywhere I've been today at cabelas I talked to some people about this derby also hearing 100k for the state record fish and also about a nice cash package for the top 5 also !! Can't wait to get the details

I disagree. IMO the next state record will come out of the andro river.

 i hear alot of people say the andro . i suppose i will have to fish it sometime . but why does everybody disregard the belgrades ? it holds the record right now and consistently produces pike between 20-28lbs i saw a pic of a 28 that came out of great already this year . but maybe im just bias because the out my back door who knows.  does anybody know the official date for the tourney this year?

I just feel there's more potential for a massive pike to come out of a large watershed like the andro than the belgrades.

I agree with you that the NEXT state record will come from the Andro, but someday in the next 10 years Sebago will put out the new state record.

If this Derby happens I believe there is a really good chance the record breaker will be caught. The statewide was open to many other species besides Pike. Now if the rumors are right about a state record pike being a huge pay day every tom dick and harry will be fishing the Belgrades, Andro and every body of water that holds Pike looking for that elusive record holder. I know I will be

If it really is a 100k for the state record then you can almost guarantee every fisherman in the state will participate and even us mass&*^%G

I have to agree with nbourque..I grew up on that river and there is an Endless supply of Food for them from,River Smelts,carp,tommy cod,perch,bass,eels,chubs,and everything else that comes in from the ocean.I can see a 30lber in there near future coming out of there.

exactly my thoughts. There's an endless amount of forage in that river and plenty of room to grow.
