Has anyone ever iced fish this area?? I believe it gets stocked with quite a few fish.Seems to be a very large body of water right above the dam.

DON'T DO IT!!!! Way to much current between the Bar Mills Dam and the Skelton. You might get away fishing in "The Backwater" that goes behind the big church on 202 in Hollis but the main portion of the river is a January swimming excursion waiting to happen........

Yes thats what I thought. However you know where the boat launch is right next to the dam?? I've driven by there and have seen people fishing right there(couple years ago), actually saw a shack there one year as well. I know you wouldn't want to go out to far. Anything past the retaining boom and your swimming! I was just inquiring, safety is always first. Going to try to get on Lil Ossippee this weekend anyway.

Be careful, the middle of the big basin was still open as of this afternoon.  North end had about 6" of ice.

Yes if I did anything there, it would be off the launch.

Plenty of smallmouth and largemouth and some crappie in there.  I run the sled up and down that body of water often.  Never up towards the bridge though!!!
