Well this cold trend should bust up the inches on the ice the next few days. We could really do with out the 50 temp days till March. It would be really nice to get the month of Feb.in this year.
Good Luck and Be SAFE!

Amen to that. I was only able to get out four times last year. I'm literally getting p@#&ed off at the news anchors when they get all giddy and happy when this warm weather comes.

checked a few locations yesterday. even the hennepin had some spots with open water. a few other stretches of the canal were locked up with 4-5" of ice. both ponds i checked one was open with just a little ice one was near capped with a little bit of open water. the wind is reeking havoc on getting us back to good.
-
that is the main problem right now if the wind would not have been here we would have great ice everywhere but until that stops it is not going to do much good that is why I am going north this weekend

My sights are moving more and more to eastern Iowa. It looks like they've been able to avoid much of the rain and higher temps. Looking at President's Day weekend if anyone is interested. However, there are weather models showing the jet stream dipping south and moving in our direction for the month of February. Might still be able to get on Central IL waters...we can only hope!

I don't see anything south of 80 that looks really safe. E and B look real shaky what little I looked at.
