Went icefishing yesterday...
« on: Apr 30, 2017, 03:43 AM »
Yesterday I went icefishing, probably last time this season. Ice is still almost 2ft thick, but only about 8" of it is clear and hard, the rest starts to get white and soft.

Caught some nice fish, a few perch of 5-550grams, and five northern pike, with top fish 13lbs.

I´m longing for next season already.

Anyone else still got fishable ice?

sounds like you had fun!
8" is the most we had here and that was gone mid january. at least your wait won't be as long as mine.

Yeah, it was lots of fun. My buddy stayed a while after I had to leave, and he caught a 14lbs pike in one of my old holes.

We usually get about 3ft of ice during winter. Earliest I´ve been out is oct 20, latest is mid may. My sister lives further north than me, and her husband was icefishing june 13 last year. We have a long hardwater season for shure.
