I have always had good luck catching them in my minnow trap with dog food for bait.

THe dog food thing works well Ive only had luck with Dads dog food some of the other brands just done catch them. Dead fish heads work as well. Crayfish in steams and smaller ponds seem to hybirnate untill the water warms up a gain so It may be tough getting them this tiem of year.

Yeah they will be very hard to get this time of year, i've been trying to get them so I can try them for some big rainbows but I haven't had much of any luck.

Here's a good place to start.  If you search google there are many more.  Some quite humorous.

Wire minnow traps, baited with dead fish, fish guts, heads, etc and left overnight will produce. In warm months, I can catch 50-100 per night, per trap, in the river behind my home that way. It works well in rocky shallows of lakes too. Overnight seting is the key though. -Jim
