Fluorocarbon Leaders
« on: Dec 20, 2004, 02:30 PM »
The past few years I have used 6lb fluorocarbon leaders on my tip ups, with very good success on trout and salmon. If I stepped it up to 8lb. due to a few lost fish do u think that would lower my success rate, even though it is said that fluorocarbon is invisible?

going up to 8lb is not going to make that big of a difference on your hook ups.I use 8lb all the time with great success.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an  well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, A fishing pole in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming \"WOO HOO, what a ride!

Eight pound should be just fine. You guys know how I feel about vanish. I think it's very brittle. I would use the p - line fluorocarbon leader. It's tougher than nails. It won't break.

Unless shallow presentations working the tributaries, 8 won't make a difference as long as you are using the fluoro thin diameter lines.

I lost a monster brookie 2 weeks ago on 6 pound Vanish. This is not the first time Flouro has lost me fish. It works awesome but gets nick way to easy and then busts :(
