Does anybody know if the south side of the causeway is fishable yet? Is this spot worth trying for some decent sized Pike? Any other suggestions for Pike spots?
there way 25/30 people on it yesterday and they were catching pike/pirch.saw a 14 pounder.

fished Carey Bay sunday they were a lot of people and 9 inches of black ice. The fishing was slow in my party, due to the bait guy was out of pike bait, and we used mediums. we did get a few pike. Guy next to us got 31 nice fish. he was using Pike bait.

How far out were you?

100' to 200' or so

That surprises me that the Pike are in that shallow, its only about 4 feet in there..... I would have thought they would be way down out off where the Lamoille flows in.

Weren't people fishing Sunnies on the south side of the Sandbar last year ?  It would make sense as Pike always need something to eat and Sunnies fit the bill.  And I know it's weedy out there for a long way.

Pike are shallow under the ice. I know they don't spawn until ice out, but it's instinctive for them to go shallow. I've never caught a pike bigger than 10 lbs in more than 10 feet of water through the ice.

Mallets bay: fished the shoreline by bay road. anchor ice as far as the eye can see makes for a bumpy walk with the sled. Ice varied in thickness from 15" in the anchor ice and found some spots (way out near the center) of clear black ice where there was only 8". so i would say there is at least 8" throughout all of Inner Mallets Bay.

There was 10-11 inches of nice black ice in Missisquoi Bay today.  Trucks and shanty's were all over the Ice. Didn't fish much just got the shanty set up.

Fished the south side of the sandbar yesterday, had a good solid 14" of ice. Kind of suprised that i didn't see at least one brave soul venture out with a truck. I think by next weekend ill drive out. Caught a few northerns, couple bass and some nice size perch.     -NN

Lake is frozen from the narrows at Thompson's Point / Split Rock south...

Porter Bay has 8-10 inches in the duck holes, to about 100 yards out...You can see a line under the snow where the new ice formed, and it is not safe (as of this AM)...I went across the line and drilled one hole and it was 2 inches and cracking while I stood there...Got back on the 'safe' side of the line fast...

2 hours, 2 Fish...2 guys down from me were there about an hour and had 8 perch, but they were using Rosie Reds, and I had bibbits and spikes...

I work in Burlington and can see out accross to Juniper Island/Shelburne bay..... This morning there was ice skimmed over quite a way out to Juniper..... I suspect by the end of the week it could be locked up all the way across.... Last year it didn't even come close.
