Smells cold.  Just after x-mas on the Sac in the bays.  Be safe.

There will 100% be safe ice in the adirondacks by mid next week/weekend. just drive by one about 20 minutes ago that was locked up already.

I wouldn't be 100% about anything, especially if the daks get snow. But I hope you're right. Planning my trip for around Christmas, which could be my only trip back to NY this winter.

Having my shoulder fixed 12/20 hoping to get a day in before that. Hopefully won't be laid up to long but think it will be tough running the auger. As  if last year wasn't bad enough.

drove around and checked a bunch of spots from paul smiths saranac lake area today. Most had about half inch of ice, we where unable to find anything that would even hold our weight to even get to drill and check. Lake clear and other big lakes still open water. Another week or two and we will be able to hit some spots.

Took a ride up north yesterday. Found a few small lakes that were locked up, but the bigger lakes were wide open. I didn't test anything. The locals did tell me however, that they just froze over within the past 2 days.

got out today on 4 or more inches of ice. We got about a dozen pike in a few hours with a few perch to boot. Great first day on the water.
