I found a VERY SPOTTY 3" and the whole lake IS NOT frozen, acres of open water in the middle.  I ADVISE EXTREME CAUTION...if it was such good ice I wouldn't be here typing...

I just punched a few holes and got out.  The ice is real shifty due to the moving water in the middle..no bueno

About 3.5" as of Saturday. "South Side" I would wait a couple days after todays temps to be safe.

The ice should def. be good by wednesday. Although wednesday will be a very cold day. Lots of gills and perch and pickeral. Walleye is harder to come by in the winter (for me at least).. Ive had great luck in the summer. Just need to find em. The ice should be good wednesday and thursday IMO.

I don't know about that..you should see the wind we have here..steady 20mph + all last night and into today.  The open water in the middle is really chopping up and slamming up against the ice, weakening it.

Hey system, did anything ever come of finding a solution to all the dink perch in there?

well there's no real quick solution...the only solution is increased predation.  DEC stocks walleye fingerlings every year, the Lake Assn is looking into purchasing additional, bigger walleye (we need memberships donations!), and DEC is highly considering resuming the tiger stocking program (if they have popular demand/support).  That will all take years...

I have been trying to encourage fishermen to take a limit of 6" perch, they have more meat than you think!  If we all keep taking the 12+ out of there, we'll be in dink heaven for decades.

Normally I strive for 10" and up, but the last few yrs I have lowered it to 8" there. This yr I will go lower and try to do my part in helping it get better. Hope to get out soon and hope PL freezes.

I'm posting so I can access the reports and conditions page. However, the ice is probably thicker now than in those pics.

Check with Esoxman he knows all about alewive infested lakes it's too bad you will wait a couple of more years. Bring back the Tigers and more Walleyes  they need to be stocked at larger sizes and it will come back around for the time being fish other lakes.

Few and far between. You might get one solid one out 30 or 40
fish.

Probably don't even need to stock them larger. By the time tigers reach 30" they probably won't be feeding on dink perch anymore. I think walleyes would help.

Don't forget the lake had a huge fish die off this past summer due to a large algae bloom...
