I believe the ethonol is seperating from the gas when it sits for a few weeks.  I believe that if you used it all in a week or two, nothing to worry about.  But if you are like me (two tanks a season) then I think over time it will mess up the engine.

Fisher Pol ,
There is a thread in the General chit chat (ice fishing ) board that discusses this topic, from what I read in that thread ethanol attracts moisture (water) which can lead to corrosin and other problems with small gas engines. Also a post from a member who works as a auto mechanic he claims it is not to best for automotive engines either. Some say the use of a fuel stabilizer will lessen or eliminate these problems.
I do not have a gas auger but own a two cycle engine snow blower and use the 10% ethanol gas in it along with adding a stabilizer and have not had problems so far. (I used Briggs-Straton currently use Stabil fuel stabilizer,a lot of people like marine formula Stabil or Sea Foam)If a station sells ethanol free gas near you try it out and see if you notice any difference.

add stabil or startron to every tank, and you won't have problems.

I heard the 15 % isn't going to happen until they complete the preliminary testing on older vehicles.  If the older vehicles can handle the added ethanol we're going to 15.....SUCKS!

A mechanic locally does the following with ethanol:  He fills his gas cans about 3/4 full.  He returns home and pours water into the tanks to bring them to full.  He'll shake the can getting the mixture really agitated and then lets it sit for aprox 20 minutes.  After this he separates the ethanol (which binds with water) from the straight gasoline.  You'll visually see a line.  His augers, small engines run beautifully!  It takes some experimenting and trial and error.

Ethanol was put in the gas to replace MTBE {methyl tertiery butyl ether} in accordance w/EPACT 2005 law. MTBE was used to get more oxy. into gas but had other emissions hurting the environment. Also Ethanol was cheaper & a renewable feul mixed with gas stretches the consuption rate. According to what I've read not every gallon has to have ethanol mixed in but I can see the money thing w/the use of it. Also  some claim engins run smother w/it but it has its drawbacks as you all probably know that it causes carrosion it a short time in motors that are not used on a daily basis {chain saws, lawn mowers, ICE AUGERS etc. causeing expensive repairs.
