I am from Ludlow, there is no safe ice i know of in my area.  Have been fishing greenfield, orange area for the past 3 weeks.  Ice is plenty thick, minimum 8".  Max 15"  Anything north of northampton should be safe!  If anyone fishing CT valley knows of safe ice pls post?  I am sure this sat much will be safe.

Heard Hampton Ponds had 8" by the boat launch last Saturday. A couple of guys were out about 100-150'. They drilled a series of holes on the way out. I would think it's better now.

Went to Congamond middle pond today at 7. 8 fishermen on the ice when my daughter and I arrived. I had her wait on shore while I checked the ice. I drilled a couple of holes 1.5" of ice. Needless to say we didn't fish.

Went to Hampton Ponds today had 6" of ice. 14-fish between 3 of us quite a few tips. Got there at 8:30am left at 1:45pm lots of ice expansion with the sun.  1-perch, 3-bass, the rest pickerel.

It would be nice if anybody has been out to list what they've found for ice thickness??

Thanks

There were a couple of guys fishing Green Water Pond in Lee/Becket on Presidents Day; Shaw pond just down the road had a pretty good crew on the north end, 10 - 12" of ice there

Anything new reports after the weekend.

We fished Goose Pond and had 13-14" of ice, also went by Metacomet and found some of the edges were still showing water.

A couple of guys were on the Chicopee River cove with the river side of the cove open. It's usually frozen this time of the year.

There are some spots on those lakes that are thinner than other areas though.

Hey Bucko these reports are from 2006.  I'd doubt that these bodies of water are safe at this point.
