Crappies in shallow ponds

is anyone having luck in shallow ponds with crappie I've gone a few times but no luck. i know your sopposed to go to the deeper parts but Ive sounded the whole pond and it seems to be all about the same dept(4feet). Any tips??????? they would be most appreciated

If they are in there, and the pond is the same depth you will have to keep moving around til you find them. They have to eat too. If you keep at it you will find them soon enough. What are you using to catch them. Tip-ups, jig rods. Try using small shiners on the tip-ups and Swedish Pimples tipped with meal worms or spikes. Good luck.

4 ft all the way around the pond?.....not a crappie pond...they need some depth and structure...

I agree with Karl crappies love structure and depth will no survive to any degree in a shallow pond

Not true, i have a couple shallow ponds with crappie that don't get any deeper than 9 ft near my house.  I have pulled some 10-11 inchers from these ponds.

get em out in 18 feet sometimes even 25 feet suspending 15' down

got a bunch today 6ft deep over 9to10 ft of water most came ona moon jig tipped with spikes
so many fish so little time

I've seen some nice ones pulled out of A-1 and it is very shallow.  I agree with PK, if they are there you will have to keep moving until you find them.

thanx guys there are definitly  crappie in the pond but i just have to find them. I'll try the meal worms and smaller shiners and try to cover more ground

big difference between 4 ft and 9 ft when it comes to crappie...i know there may be some in any depth but may be low numbers....

if there is a dam on one end of the pond, generally it would be deeper there. Just make sure the ice is safe,  Try a small chartruse jig with a piece of dillie or a meal worm.
