TOUGH BLOW!!
« on: Jan 15, 2006, 05:39 PM »
Fished comet today...   only 10 tilts on the ice..  tough non-stop wind!! dont know how hard?? 30mph ?  anyways...  ice was harder today(1*15*06) then Thursday when me and flapjack went, thicker also... solid 5-8"black, 3" slush/crust... in spots bare blackice only..    snow blowing everywhere!!  snowhumps on the ice, they are alittle soft. SHORE IS COVERED WITH SNOW; VERY SOFT WENT THROUGH A FEW TIMES TO THE KNEE!! Ice was thickening the whole afternoon, cracks popping up left and right. Lowest temp reading was 8.4 f. at 4;20 when we left the ice. No flags… these cold nights coming up can only help!!  Not sure about the beach offa rt 68, fished the boat launch. Tightlines  -moose

I have a somewhat related question. Which fish can you expect to bite at night?
I work all week until 3:30pm and unless I go after dark I have to wait until the weekend. I was hoping that if I brought the portable had the lantern going inside and jigged I might be able to do ok. I just am not sure if the fish are all that active at night?
Thanks for the information.  :)

i know by fishing my good friend.  always caught more and bigger brown trout at dusk,  and dawn... even when you cant get them to bite, you see them chasing in the baitfish. alot of fishermen will agree; dont get me wrong, i have caught them all day long, ice, and open water..  but it seems the big boys come out to play when its dark  -moose
