Had a great time at the DAR Derby

Took my daughter and met a few friends out on the DAR around 5am yesterday for the annual Burgy Rod and gun club derby.  my daughter got 3 trout, but ended up pulling up a 2lb 12 oz largemouth bass on a night crawler she set to win herself a brand new jiffy auger.   Had a blast and she is hooked on derby fishing now LOL

That is awesome. I just got in from shoveling way to much snow, but it's great to see a young fisherman get some great fish and win an auger. If I can't get out on the ice, I'm glad to see someone like your daughter is out there catching the fish. Congratulations.

Its a good year for the youth fishermen and fisher women.  A youngin'  won 1st place for the bass category at the A1 Bassmasters derby plus an additional prize for largest fish of the hour.

Looks like dad doesn't have to drill holes anymore.  Congrats on the win.  She looks super happy.

yeah it was great,  she got up at 4am with me, and hit the ice at 5.  she set her own tips and tended to each flag.  it was funny when she got the bass up out of the hole,  she dropped it back into the hole  :o  but thankfully it stayed hooked and she was able to bring it back up.   who woulda thought she'd catch a bass on a whole nightcrawler set somewhere between the ice and bottom since she never sounded the hole LOL
