Yea the ice that season was unreal ... in that second vid with that crack that went through my hole, opened to about 2 1/2" 15 mins later. I bent a pole on my flip over trying to get the heck outa Dodge. Think I set a sprint record on ice for distance traveled in least amount of time ....for my age group ...
here's a question - how do you think a constantly "booming" ice say affects the fishing?
I say it doesn't...and here's my scientific theory The booming in most lakes goes on throughout the winter whenever it's making ice, right? Ok...so the fish probably get used to it even though it might not have bothered them to begin with. Now...if it did affect them I would say it would be those that are closest to the surface where the booming takes place. And if the fish are deeper, the water above them is probably going to absorb the sound and vibration....the deeper the water, the deeper the fish, the less noise and vibration...so fish deep! There it is ...are you buying it? ;Dnot sure. in the woods when its windy & trees whipping all over, animals seem to hunker down &stay put, don,t feed too much. idk if this would be similar.
I've got a brother from a different mother that won't even go out on the ice if ita popping, hilarious! You oughta see him squirm. Last year first ice it was shifting so much it knocked my other buddy's bucket out from underneath him, awesome fishing though!
. He has never been on the ice because he doesn't it enough to even walk on it.
And you can't wait for the crack and *BOOM*...right?
