Driving ;D

I decided to walk out this afternoon and had a blast catching yellows. Some guy drove up right beside me and asked how I was doing, got a little nervous as the ice was cracking and popping around me. Sure glad he decided to fish 200 yds away!

We fished again this morning catching 24 total between 3 guys. The morning bite is definately not as hot as it was the afternoon before. It sure is fun though! May come up again Monday night.

Nice mess of fish, looks like the kids had fun. A buddy and I were at Farmers and didnt have near the luck you did. The fish would swim up like they were going to hit then nothing?????? Is there a trick to catching these yellows? We tried waxworms, spikes, minnow heads, and cut bait. ???

Did you have a camera?  I would bet that they were tiny fish.  You will know when you are on the right fish!

Hey,

Planning on heading up there tomorrow. It'll be my 2nd time icefishing and my first time out on clear lake. Can anyone recommend any spots? From what i've been reading, Farmers beach is good? Also, any ice condition updates? Would hate to drive all the way up there and have to turn around.

:)Had good luck last Monday and yesterday in the little lake. Ice is still thick but not good quality. Safe for walking and 4  wheelr. Even some cigars sprinkled in.
Fish for fun, not for keeps. Keepers are a bonus!

The ice is plenty safe just use common sense around the open water areas.

Fishing for yellows is red hot right now. Move around till you find active fish. Jigging spoons and cutbait.

3 of us managed 53 yellows in 2 hours 4pm till 6pm. That was all we could stand in the wind Saturday.

Good to see that the fish were that active when the you took the kids.  Had a couple good days this year when I brought mine out, but last couple before this year taking them was a sure way to shut down a good bite.  Nice when it works out like that.

Could you widen out the angle on that camera lens so I can tell where you are fishing?  Looks like I might have one trip left in the books this winter.

Do you guys still think there will be ice on little lake this weekend or do you think we're done for the year?

I was there Tuesday morning and there was still a good 15" of ice. I am headed back there Thursday and Friday morning I will post the conditions. I would say unless there is a lot of rain you should be fine fishing the weekend.

I was there Thursday and Friday AM and the bite was slow, you really had to work for them. Maybe I just didnt move around enough ??? The ice this morning was about 12" thick. Getting on the ice might be a challenge tomorrow if the sun actually came out up there today. If you go BE SAFE!!!!!

Thanks for the info. Still planning on going out on sunday as of right now. Will probably call the bait shop tomorrow afternoon for an ice report. Hopefully there is still some out there.

If anyone else has an update tomorrow i'd really appreciate it  :)

I fished the little lake this afternoon, the rain did a number on the ice and it's pretty much done. really "squishy" in places. Only caught 2 tiny yellows in 2 hours for my trouble.

There are still very brave :o ( stupid people) out in the little lake as of last night. I guess they think a few yellows are worth risking their life.

I would wait till next week and put the boat in.

Was at clear lake today tried north side by inlet with no luck than went to grade on jetty with no luck ended up between big and small clear out on the point where boats pass by and had a crazy time with yellows and a few eyes was fishing a slip bobber with minnow while trying to adjust for the shallow depth had yellows ferociously attacking my slip bobber it was insane at one point had one almost on land I couldn't believe that it had the bobber all the way in its mouth   ??? so I shortened the hook to within 6 inches and 3 inches hoping the bobber would attract them and than they would hit the minnow with no luck they just kept pounding the bobber so I set it right on top of the hook and still couldn't hook up I tried jigs spoons with no luck and it had to be florescent green they wouldn't hit orange I was so disappointed I usually carry floating jigs but had none >:( I'm pretty sure had I had some we could have hammered the yellows they were going aerial after the bobber my 5 year old had a ball even though we never caught a fish
I don't have a problem I have an obsession😏
