UMaine Fishing Club Ice Fishing Derby on Pushaw Lake

The kids from the UMaine fishing club are putting on their first fishing derby on Pushaw lake, March 3rd. . They've worked hard to get it together. Their mirroring the prizes of many other tournaments, as well as focusing on the future of our sport by creating a youth division. My buddy and I are going to make the trip from upstate NY to support this venture.  Nice to see kids enjoying a sport we love.  Hope you can get out support the effort and maybe win a prize or two as well!  Bring your kids!

Good for you supporting these guys.  I don't recall who posted this initially, however, it was clear from their post they were looking to make this a successful event soliciting feedback, etc.  If we didn't have engagements that weekend I'd be there.

As far as bait near Pushaw, sorry I'm unable to help.  When I'm fishing that area, I'm generally staying with my folks in Bangor and get bait at Burn's on Birch St.

Old Town Trading Post has bait. they open at 9 so get it the day before if you can.

For bait in the area check out Burns Bait Shop and support family owned business.  They have whatever you need all sizes of shiners, suckers, smelt, sea smelt.  Best of all open 6am-9pm 365 days a year!
