White Lake
« on: Mar 01, 2021, 07:44 AM »
Has anyone have any luck lately there. It was way over fished this early winter. Just wondering if I should head someplace else

That place is smoked by mid December each year.

I went last season around this time of year. I was passing through and had an hour or so to kill. Still got some fish one decent the rest were smalls..... There is other areas to that lake than just fishing ten feet off land by the parking area.
Every fish is a good fish!

Used to be one of my favorites for that species. Place is a s show now and it seems everyone there takes home every fish they catch. still a beautiful spot though, even if the fishing sucks. One of the only lakes left with no houses on it.
Do yourself a favor though and go as far away from the launch as you can and you've got a chance.
Good luck

Tim Moore posted a video on him sight fishing on white lake early in the season, and since then the lake has received a bit more pressure than the average year. Not his fault, and I'm sure there's plenty still swimming in there- but I would opt for a different spot.

So I’m not the only one who thinks it’s over fished.  Had the best time fishing with my dad out there about ten years ago. And there was nobody but us. Miss those days.

Second that....the launch and beach areas look like a beat piece of Swiss cheese after a hot night

I haven’t fished it since probably 2008 and wouldn’t again. All those Fall Brood stock lakes really took the hit when they started that BS trophy fish program. They’d post the results with the lake name. It’s such a joke, guys getting a piece of paper and a pin or something stupid in trade for blowing up lakes. Truth of it all is, the fish they caught there was plenty other clones of that same fish and you don’t even need bait. You can tease them out of the thin ice hole even without even touching a hook to them, they litterally are attracted to hearing people come bc they associate it with food. Go to a hatchery and walk down to the ponds and see what happens lol. Zero skill.

The beauty of those places was getting holdovers down the road when they actually turn into a fish and not a pet.

Well it was a great day on the ice. Had it all to myself. And got the biggest pickerel I’ve ever caught.

Nice eater there.
Perhaps I should not have been a fisherman, he thought. But that was the thing that I was born for.
