Milwaukee Mud Mixer / battery upgrade
« on: Aug 07, 2018, 09:51 AM »
FWIW, I've recently seen the bare tool mud mixers trading on eBay for just under $150. Also seeing opportunities for the new HiCap 12Ah batteries for under $170. Last year the mixers best price was $165 and the 9Ah batteries were @ $200 or better.

I've got a pair of 5Ah batts and was shopping for a 9. I'll probably go with a 12Ah now.

Those 12ah batteries do look very tempting. However, I have yet to use a whole 5ah battery in my drill lol. One may be in my future though.

Bahahahaha!  I have two 9 amps, but at my age it's not the batteries that I have to worry about going dead, it's the user!   :woot: :roflmao:

Well, I did it. My 12 Ah is enroute to my door for just under $160. That should do it for me, a pair of 5s and this 12. Last year I got 23 - 25 holes through 22" with the 8" K-drill. This ensures a 100 hole day if I need it (not usually but I might).

esox, if possible, I would try and cancel/return the 12ah and pick up the two 9ah & and charger for $200 at Acme that I posted in the deals thread this morning.  It's a much better value.  Six more ah worth of run time AND another charger for $40.  Your call though...

I just ordered a 12ah also.  There is a significant increase in pwr from the 5ah to the 9ah.  From what I have read the 12ah also has significant pwr increase over the 9ah....in non ice related tool use.  The increase in pwr/torque is what I'm looking for more then longevity.  I have my SM 10" shaver setup for my mudmixer and the 9ah works pretty good but could be lil stronger.  If nothing else it will make my 8" k-drill an even faster ice hawg!

I'll always tote the 2 5 Ah as backups though won't necessarily expect to tap 'em. That's good info on the SM 10" shaver. I've got one and will now really expedite an adapter to run on the MMM. Thanks ryno!

Decided to build my 9ah for my mud mixer. May go to 12ah with another battery layer but may not need it with 2 backup 5ah always charged in my bag.

I have the adapter chucked up for now.  I did buy the Quick Lok chuck for the MMM...but haven't torn it apart and installed it yet.
