Caroga Fish & Game Club’s

2008 Ice Derby

Date: January 12th 2008
Location to be fished: East and West Caroga Lakes
Time: 7am to 4pm
Fee: $12.00 for pre registration - $15.00 for same day registration
Prizes: $Cash prizes$(80% payback)(20% fish stocking) For the 3 Largest Pickerel: 1st and 2nd place payouts for Trout, Perch, & Crappie. (All Proceeds Benefit Fish Stocking)

Pre Registration ($12.00)- Will be available at Jims Bait Shop 118 2nd Ave. Mayfield, NY (518) 661-5724. Pre Registration will only be available until January 10th @ 6pm. (So sign up now!!) You may Also Pre-Register in Caroga Lake (Call 835-2616 to set up a Time)

Same Day Registration ($15.00)- Will be available at the Clubhouse: Located on the Hilley Rd. Off of State Highway 10(*About 2 miles below the bridge that connects East and West Caroga Lakes) There will be Signs. You Cant Miss It!!!( Registration will be available at 6:30am)

*Large Equipment Raffles* $ 50-50 $ Raffles, Fun for the Whole Family!!!

No youth division this year, But there more then welcome to fish with the adults..

C.K. what are the ice conditions there? and what is the best way up from steuben county?are there any motels locally. thanks for the help

Where abouts in Steuben? Father has a place in Prattsburg! When I go back I go thru Branchport to Penn Yan up to Geneva (sometimes take 20 to Auburn and hit Bass Pro ) To Thruway . Take Thruway to Exit 28 Canajoharie . At exit turn right to first traffic light , Rt 10 , turn right and follow about 15 miles right into Caroga ! Vroomans right in Caroga on Left just past lake, Sportsman Club is before town on right , youll see a sign , keep a close eye out for it !

Yeah its been awhile, sorry I bailed out on the fishing today but didnt feel like dealing with the snow storm!

Gonna have to get a snowmobile if this keeps up, wheelers wont cut it,especially with a broken axle right?

Dude you missed out on a new crappie lake! No trout but Upstate, Upstate's girl (kicked our butts), Caroga kid and I caught a bunch of nice crappie and Jay caught a FAT walleye in this un-expected spot. Lots of snow and walking was tough but not a bad day. See you soon.

No tourney cards this year..Just sign up and go out and fish.. You just gotta bring your fish back to the clubhouse to have them measured..

Yup just sign up at Jims this weekend and go out and fish on the 12th....Just make sure your back to the clubhouse and In the measuring line by no later than 4:30 pm...

I've fished in the Caroga tourneys for years. I can't wait. The more people the better. I've been up to Caroga three times this year and was chasing flags all day. Hopefully the Ice isn't too thick for them Splake. I was on the lake Monday and there was around 10" of Ice. With the temp being below zero for the past few days I bet there is over a foot.

Hey Jason-
I am seeing a lot about West Caroga & splake on this site. Any news on what is happening in East Caroga? What are they catching? Where? With what? I'm new to this & don't want anybody's honey holes, just need some direction to get started. Any advice for East would be GREATLY appreciated!
