Seen Tuscarora Lake skimmed over this morning. Things are looking good. Can’t wait to get out there and hook into some walleye!!!
-
I am in sales and drive non stop. I've noticed small ponds and lakes along with the shore of the Seneca River already starting to skim over. Hopefully it will be a great cold year / winter!

I drove by the reservoirs yesterday as well. Eaton brook was still open. There is a pond within the vicinity that had 1 1/2" yesterday. I bet by this weekend ill be ice fishing.
-
I'll be out checking Friday afternoon, with gear in truck!
-
Cant wait

Are they walleyes on the south end of the lake? I parked at a bar last year on the north side and walked half way and didn't catch a thing

Yea they are more concentrated in the center and south usually around 20’

Just heard that the Oxford Lions Club is no longer going to host the Chenango Lake Perch Derby.

Just heard that the Oxford Lions Club is no longer going to host the Chenango Lake Perch Derby.
Who’s going to host it this year?
-
As far as I know nobody is stepping forward. I'll try and stop at Mayhoods and get the skinny first hand. Volunteers in theses clubs eventually get burned out. Tends to be a few doing the work of many.
-
Does anyone know the ice thickness of eaton brook or tuscorora reservoirs?
-
I live on Tuscarora and drove by Eatonbrook, neither one has thickness. There is still open water everywhere, only the areas that the wind isn't hitting has any ice on it.
-
It's killing me not knowing the thickness of ice on Leland pond. I wonder if there will be fishable ice by Saturday?
I drove by eatonbrook tonight and as stated a lot of open water, very disappointing.
-
if these temps continue, it can't be too long!
-
Forget the big stuff guys! The little ones are locked up nice and will be game on this weekend
-
just checked on a pond, locked up and used a spud to open up a hole. I measured 2.5". This weekend is looking really good. I'm not going to attempt it but I wouldn't doubt there will be fishable ice tomorrow. spud, spud, spud and be safe out there.
-
As of this morning Jamesville Reservior was basically 100% crusted over. Might have 2 inches by tomorrow but that may be wishful thinking
-
has anyone driven by eaton brook today to see if it is skimmed over?
-
After driving and ice checking I finally found safe fishable ice. Today at 5pm I was on 3-4" of ice. TOMORROW MY ICE FISHING SEASON BEGINS!!!!!
-

Ditto.
-
I was forced to burn a day at work so after I drop off the boy at school I'm gonna head out and check on some ice.
-
I will check Jamesville today. will post by 5pm
-
I got out for the first time this year. Nothing of size to brag about but had fun catching 23 perch. I tested my new striker predator suit and artic muck boots. The early morning temp was 3 degrees and I never once got cold. Ice fishing has started just keep it safe. Some areas are definitely sketchy.
-
Just checked Jamesville at the dam end. only 1"-1 1/2" of ice. Not much snow on the ice. It looked pretty consistent all the way across.
-
Any ice on big bay yet?
-
I wouldn't trust no ice in central new York yet, maybe by next weekend
-
I punched through on 1 whack today 5ft from shore.!!
1-1.5" max.
It appeared that someone had been out there for a little while based on their tracks. I'm not sure what planet they are from but I am glad that they made it off the ice safe. Please be careful people.
I am going to give it a few more days before my fat ass is going to bother checking again.
-
Stupid question but how do you join a team?
-
With the temperatures down it wont be long :icefish:
-
Where do you walk off at panther lake?
-
Moving to the cicero area this December. Looking forward to fishing in CNY again!
-
Where do you walk off at panther lake?
There is none , you need permission from a land owner to access it ,
-
Erieville lake and eatonbroo reservoir have guys on it today. 6 on Eatonbrook and 2 on Erieville. Looks like I’m fishin tomorrow for some eyes and panies!!
-
How much ice is on eatonbrook?

Ok who here lives on panther lake and can give me access
-
If anyone would like to try Jamesville Reservoir tomorrow morning feel free to email me or PM me
-
Checked the north end of jamesville around 2 PM. Didn't have a ruler but ice was at least 2 inches thick maybe 2.5. Felt pretty solid but I am a small guy (140 lbs).
Too bad it is going to rain tomorrow. Might give it a shot early in the morning before the rain starts up

The lake will probably open up by the end of today, already open spots showing.
-
Dang! I wanted to get out there today. Any updates on the pond side of Eatonbrook?
-
On my way over to West Eaton I drove by Eatonbrook. Pond had ice, lake was open a little everywhere. I've never been on that pond, but it looks suspect to me. I would not go on it.
Be Safe

Checked some local water 2.5 of jet black ice! Hoping it makes a little more by the weekend!
-
Just moved north from the Syracuse area. Typically fish various ice south of the city depending on conditions but with the proximity now to Oneida I could be on the ice with in 10 min from the house. I have never fished the lake before though. Anyone want to throw a guy a bone and let me know where typically the lake freezes over first and a rough starting point for exploration?
Appreciate the knowledge.

Anyone going out this morning?
-
Checked Caz earlier and walked out and chopped thru 3" in 2' of water. Another 10' out was about an inch thick. Got the hell out of there quick.
:cookoo: :cookoo: :cookoo:
-
saw you out there this morning... any luck?
only got a couple of dink yellow perch on the east side. Were you the guy with the dog? How did you do?
-

That was me out there Alex. Same as you with the dink perch.

-
Went to eatonbrook to check the ice, probably 10' out maybe an inch. That warm day killed that ice but at least it's still locked up.
-
Drove by Erieville, not a soul out there.
Drove by Eatonbrook, two guys on the north arm.
I personally plan on giving it a little more time...
-
Wise man Bart, we are getting closer though.
-
if anyone goes out today be safe, hopefully ill get out after work to do some scouting. Its not looking good with this snow but I hope there will be some fishable ice for Saturday. SPUD SPUD SPUD
-
Went by Lake Moraine today and someone pulls the plug on it! I was there a week or so ago and water level was about normal and it had about 3" of ice. Now there's about 4" but the level is down close to 3' from first ice up! Gonna buy some frog spears and sight fish😉
-
Next weekend looks like a safe fishable weekend. Temps are supposed to drop off to nothing by Friday.
-
Just drove by eatonbrook and there where a hand full of fisherman on the ice. Be safe out there boys and good luck.
-
I’m going out this morning any updates on Eatonbrook or Lebanon?
-
Leland has ice but there is definitely some bad ice. I was out for a while but definitely want to spud.
-
I’ve had some good luck catching bow on Lebanon Reservoir in summer but never ice fishing. Any suggestions? Shallow/deep? Best bait? Tip up?
-
Any luck on Eaton?? ;D
-
Anyone know if eatonbrook has safe ice near the launch, I want to take my son out in the shanty tomorrow if there is?
-
Anybody have any updates on Tuscarora?
-
Update on eatonbrook, myself and my son went out. Only went out to 12 feet of water, a good 5" of ice. My son only lasted about an hour I didn't bring my shanty just in case there wasn't safe ice. Without confirming my gues is the reservoirs near me should be fishable. The ice should really thicken up by this weekend. Be safe and I still recommend to spud.
-
Eaton Brook Reservoir where's a good spot near boat launch to catch perch
-
Eaton Brook Reservoir where's a good spot near boat launch to catch perch
Sometimes it's off to the right, other times it's off to the left. Usually start straight out and never find a good spot.
??? ::)   :icefish:
-
Things look good all over the place
-
Mill brooke resevour above new Berlin has 8 inches of ice
-
OK folks, Save the Date - Feb. 3rd is the Tuscarora Derby (rain date Feb 24th). When I get all the details from the organizers I will send it in to the moderators to be posted on the tourney board.

Killed the crappie last night on Cazenovia. Went through 3 dozen minnows and a tube of spikes. Slab crappie too. All over 11”.

Nice to hear Monster. I will be trying another nearby puddle tomorrow before the next Artic blast.

OK folks,
The Tuscarora Derby flyer is posted on the derby page. You will notice there is a new category:
The longest "Chain of Pickerel" - the total length of your best pickerel (up to a total of 5, 15" or greater each) added together will win a prize.
So get those fish cake recipes ready!
You can register early at the Blue Canoe Restaurant (great food) on the lake or the Rod & Bobber Bait Shop (Roy will hook you up with your bait) on Jones Road just east of the lake.
See you February 3rd!
-
great post Fluke.......always a fun day........lots of good prizes and good people too

I plan on trying there sometime this yr for them. Not sure what the population of them is there, does anyone have any insight to this?
-
