Here in MN, I'll usually fish the deepest part in the lake up to about 40 ft, so in a swamp, I'd say if it's only 8 ft deep, find that depth and drill a bunch of holes to find em

I have found them Waaaaaaaaaay shallow, but somewhat near the main basin[]

I also fish on a swampy pond(shallow) , some days they will be in the middle in 5 feet and the next day they could be in 1 fow you just have to keep drilling until you can catch a couple

i was fishing at 5 feet and i caught 6 bass and my brother was fishing 3 feet and he was catching allot of perch.

I guess we dont do well in ponds and swamps here in MN. Unless they are conected to larger lakes or have current, they freeze out. too much weed decay under the ice will even kill larger lakes. a couple of years ago we had a severe winter kill on a smaller lake by mille lacs.
