crappie drop into deeper water as soon as the temp starts to cool, my guess would be those stream fish have dropped into a nearby pond for the winter

I would have to agree. Crappie will spawn in the small streams but doubt they would make it home for the winter. What does the stream feed into?

2 big lakes. its not really a stream just called stream.

They will move into the deeper water in the lakes.

I'm pretty sure rivers, brooks and streams are not open to fishing this time of year. I think the year round fishing pertains only to lakes and ponds.

this one is open. law books allows people to fish it.

Belgrade streams open year round, but I've seen that stream safe one day and wide open the next. Wings mill dam will take the stream out in a day if they feel the need to open it. I know the pike hang out in it all winter . I would think the crappies would be in the deeper spots still.@)
